Pakistan Sees Strong Investor Interest in EV Charging Stations

The National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA) has announced that around 3,800 local and international investors are interested in setting up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Pakistan. This growing interest shows strong support for the country’s move toward electric mobility.

According to Dr. Moazaam, the Managing Director of NEECA, the authority has already issued licenses for 71 EV charging stations. Out of these, 30 to 35 stations are currently working and have formally applied for registration. He also mentioned that 128 more applications are being processed.

Dr. Moazaam told SAMAA TV that many local and international companies are actively sharing information and working on finalizing their documents to start operations. Some of these companies are in the final stages of completing the required paperwork.

The increase in investor interest is mainly due to the government's recent decision to lower electricity rates for EV charging stations. Dr. Moazaam added that licenses are now being issued within 15 days once all documents are submitted. This faster process is part of the government’s plan to promote eco-friendly investments and expand EV infrastructure in Pakistan.
