PAF Chief Strengthens Military Ties During Official Visit to the US

WASHINGTON: Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu paid an official visit to the United States, marking the first trip by a serving head of the Pakistan Air Force in over ten years, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During his stay, Air Marshal Sidhu engaged with senior American military and political leaders at key locations, including the Pentagon, Capitol Hill, and the State Department. The meetings focused on expanding mutual defence cooperation and identifying new areas for joint training and technological collaboration.

While at the Pentagon, the PAF Chief met with Kelli L. Seybolt, the Secretary of the Air Force for International Affairs, and General David W. Allvin, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force. Discussions highlighted the longstanding defence partnership between Pakistan and the United States, with both sides emphasizing the value of interoperability and continued coordination between the two air forces.

Air Marshal Sidhu reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence relations and enhancing military-to-military cooperation. Both nations agreed to maintain the momentum through ongoing senior-level interactions and future high-level engagements.

His visit comes shortly after Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, also toured the US, where he met with key American officials, including former President Donald Trump. Trump called the meeting an honour and appreciated Munir’s role in promoting regional peace and stability, particularly in easing tensions with India. He also revealed ongoing trade talks with Pakistan during a private luncheon.
